News regarding the Jeremy Clarkson case

You've probably already heard about Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson's fight with producer Oisin Tymon . The television itself has not yet commented much on the whole case, and we only know officially from it that the broadcast of new episodes of the show is suspended and the popular Jezza has been suspended. However, more and more facts are gradually coming to the surface, from which we can already get a sufficient picture of the whole event.

A skirmish, a fight, a rift or an argument (that's how the incident is talked about not only in the British media) between the 54-year-old presenter and the producer was apparently caused by a hot dinner . The Top Gear crew was in North Yorkshire last week, staying in a luxury hotel. In it, a warm dinner was to be prepared for the trio of star presenters on Wednesday evening. She should have, but she wasn't. The crew of the show arrived later than planned and the chef went home in the meantime.

Tymon was to provide only a cold buffet (or a selection from the bar menu) for the presenters, while Clarkson demanded a sirloin steak from the hotel menu for 21 pounds and 95 pence (about 840 crowns). When he received a negative reply, Jezza was about to launch into Oisin Tymon with his reproaches for failing to provide a warm dinner. It is not yet clear whether there was only a verbal exchange or even a "fist fight", so we can only stick to the official announcement of the BBC, which speaks of "fracas" , which in translation is a fight.

What is interesting is the subsequent reaction of the presenter himself, who after the incident called TV director Danny Cohen himself and informed him of the whole matter. However, since that moment, not a single sentence related to the incident has come out of the mouths of Clarkson, Cohen, Tymon or anyone else. The producer even speaks only through his lawyer. Clarkson has already changed his description on Twitter from "I'm the presenter of Top Gear on BBC2" to "I might be the presenter of Top Gear on BBC2." Support was expressed not only by his colleagues (May described the whole situation as a small skirmish), but for example, also the British Prime Minister David Cameron , otherwise also Clarkson's friend, and above all the fans themselves, whose online petition had collected over 800,000 signatures by Thursday

From the level of (almost) confirmed news, let's now move to the thin ice of speculation . All three presenters were supposed to receive a contract offer from rival TV SKY , where the "new Top Gear" would start broadcasting. All this as negotiations on a new contract with the BBC are set to begin next week. It can be expected that if the misconduct committee finds Clarkson guilty next week (and that is highly likely), then according to earlier information he will be immediately fired from television. As you can probably tell, Top Gear without Jeremy is like a three-cylinder supercar, it's just incomplete. And under these circumstances, it can also be assumed that in the event of Clarkson signing a contract with SKY, the other two presenters would also be affected. The BBC would therefore lose up to 350 million viewers of Top Gear and the trio could rub their hands over what is sure to be a lucrative contract. So the question arises whether the whole incident with the tenderloin steak is not just another in a series of remarkable and, without exaggeration, brilliant moves by Clarkson to ensure popularity for himself and the show on the new channel. However, everything is purely speculative.
