The Indian car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki comes with a new sedan

We already wrote about the popularity of the segment of sedans with a total length of less than four meters in connection with the Indian market when the Tata Zest was introduced last February. Its direct competitor is the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire , i.e. nothing but the familiar hatchback with a stepped rear.

And it was the Indian-Japanese sedan that recently underwent a facelift , which, although it differed somewhat from the donor hatchback, the kinship still cannot be denied. The 3995 mm long , 1695 mm wide and 1555 mm high body boasts, in addition to an unusual ground clearance of 170 mm , a new design of the main headlights with a dark background, a redesigned radiator grille, chrome as standard from the third equipment line, chrome frames around the fog lights and from the third equipment also reverse mirrors with integrated indicators for changing the direction of travel. The rear part is still decorated with a short trunk lid together with a chrome strip and expressively shaped headlights. Four of the seven body colors are new (Alp blue, Cave black, Magma gray, Sangria red) and the design of the alloy wheels has also been redesigned, once again standard from the third equipment level.

The interior has a standard five-seater with a wheelbase of 2430 mm , but only two adults will feel more comfortable on the back seats. The design largely corresponds to the Swift sold in Europe, the available photos show the highest equipment with radio, multifunction steering wheel and electrically operated windows of all doors. Otherwise, mostly ivory or black plastic surfaces can enliven wooden decors or chrome door handles. An interesting feature is the Indian composition of individual equipment levels. For example, you won't find an airbag, radio, electric windows, adjustable driver's seat or fog lights on the base model, but you will always get manual air conditioning or power steering. The facelift did not affect the appearance of the cabin at all, but brought several new equipment elements, among them a multifunction steering wheel , push-button start, rear parking sensors or electric trunk control.

Under the hood, in addition to a self-made 12-litre petrol engine with an output of 84.3 hp at 6000 rpm with a torque of 115 Nm at 4000 rpm, there is also a 13-litre DDiS diesel from Fiat with an output of 75 hp at 4000 rpm with torque with a torque of 190 Nm at 2000 rpm. A five-speed manual transmission is standard for both units, the gasoline engine can be equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission on request. On the technical side, there is a MacPherson suspension at the front, and a torsion bar at the back. The front brakes are disc brakes with ventilation, but the rear brakes are classic and now quite outdated drums.

The equipment was already mentioned, but the individual equipment levels were not mentioned. For the petrol engine, they have the designations LXi, LXi (O), VXi and ZXi , for the diesel engine they are LDi (corresponding to the second petrol stage), VDi and ZDi . It would be unnecessary to list the equipment of the individual stages here, but it would not hurt to mention the most important elements. Frontal airbags, radio with CD, USB and 4x speakers, electric mirrors with blinkers, fog lights, darkened lights and rear electric windows are for example part of the VXi/VDi grade, ABS grade ZXi/ZDi or VXi with automatic and height- adjustable driver's seat, rear parking sensors or automatic air conditioning of the ZXi/ZDi line. The price for the lowest level LXi is 507,883 rupees (approx. 200,000 crowns), the cheapest diesel line LDi comes to 599,523 rupees (approx. 237,000 crowns). If you want the top trim, Maruti charges 680,000 rupees (approx. 268,000 crowns) for the petrol engine and 781,000 rupees (approx. 308,000 crowns) for the diesel engine.
