Two KM Racing vehicles will be featured this coming weekend in Hungary as part of the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup. Young crews will test their capabilities in the tough competition at the Hungarian Baja – the Liaz 111.154 truck will be presented in the composition of Martin Macík Jr., Marian Orlický and Michal Mrkva , the racing premiere will be experienced by Buggy Optimus with Jakub Knoll behind the wheel, Jakub acting as navigator and mechanic at the same time First .
"It's a race, so I'm curious how the youngsters will do, but more than the results I'll be interested in them gaining as much experience as possible in a tough competition," said KM Racing boss Martin Macík Sr.
On Thursday after noon, the crews in the center of the competition, which is the town of Pápa in the Veszprém county, are waiting for acceptance. Since the journey from Sedlčany to the west of Hungary is only 450 kilometers long, the KM Racing convoy sets off on the journey the same day in the morning. The accompanying MAN truck will pull the undercarriage, the mechanical Toyota Hilux buggy, and the column will be closed by a small camper.

The first stage of 55.5 kilometers will take place on Friday evening. On Saturday, a little unconventionally, all four remaining stages will be run. In the morning, first 73 and then 120 km, and the same portion awaits the Hungarian Baja participants in the afternoon. "The Saturday program will be very busy, I'm curious how the organizers will manage it," said the truck driver, who completed the Hungarian competition last year in the role of navigator alongside Vlasta Vildman . Kuba Knoll was the third to join the party in the Liaz cabin at the time, for whom the two-day Baja will be his first taste of off-road competition as a driver.
"It's something new for me, but at the same time a big challenge. I am very curious about the race. It is clear that the competition in cars is huge. I don't really know how it will go, but we'll see what we have. We want to test the buggy well and successfully cross the finish line. That way, we would have some basic result and maybe in a year we could use the experience," said Knoll, who will appear in the cross country event as a rookie driver, but has extensive racing experience from circuit series.
Liaz with a new crew experienced its premiere already in July in Spain at Baja Aragon , where it took fourth place. In Hungary, he will compete with only four trucks, and Czech flags will be affixed to two of them. "However, we go to train, but of course also to compete. I know from last year that the truck can barely fit on most of the track and it is often necessary to cut through tree branches. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the Hungarian Baja . It is the next step in the preparation for the 2015 Dakar Rally ," added Mates.
