The BMW X3 will launch with a new base engine and rear-wheel drive

BMW took the greenest route and prepared a version with a new base engine for the X3 model. A diesel four-cylinder with a volume of 2 liters will appear in the popular SUV soon, and the manufacturer will demand at least 36,200 euros for it.

The BMW X3 sDrive 18d will have a two-liter diesel engine with TwinPower Turbo technology under the hood. Although the maximum output of 105 kW does not inspire, the torque of 360 Nm available from 1750 rpm already sounds better.
The new version of the second generation X3 with the 18d engine accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 9.9 seconds in conjunction with the manual transmission, the eight-speed automatic increases the acceleration time by four tenths. BMW states a maximum speed of 195 km/h for the manual, the automatic reaches a value 5 km/h lower. However, for the first time in the history of the X3 model, we encounter a concept that is honored (except for the xDrive version) by all BMW cars – front engine and rear wheel drive.
BMW refers to the X3 sDrive 18d version as the most economical SUV in its class. Combined consumption ranges from 5.1 to 5.4 l/100 km, the average output of 137 grams of C0 2 per kilometer will satisfy the officials with the measuring device for some time. However, BMW helps with such interesting values with several useful systems. These include brake energy recuperation, indication of the optimal gear ratio, the Start/Stop system and the ECO PRO mode, which will somewhat limit the response to pressing the gas pedal and reduce the performance of the on-board instruments.
We tested the new generation BMW X3 this year in the xDrive 30d version. You can find the test and video here .
