Ferrari 308 GT Rainbow

You've probably never heard of this car. It is the work of the Bertone design studio, and is the first cabriolet with a fixed folding roof and an engine in the middle, a concept that Ferrari only returned to with the 458 Spider .

The design is valid for its time, so full of edges and sharp angles, but it is a car from 1976. Unlike its modern sibling, the Rainbow requires only two hands to fold the roof instead of dozens of gears and electric motors, and the roof, similar to a classic Tarza, flips over and inserted between the cabin and the engine compartment. The concept was built on the basis of the Ferrari 308 GT , which means that it received a three-liter eight-cylinder , which can be found in the Ferrari 308 , 208 , 288 GTO , Mondial or perhaps also in the Lancia Thema 8.32 . Its output ranged from 170-255 hp in non-turbocharged versions, the pictured piece probably has 220 hp.

But the car didn't get the attention it deserved, because a year earlier Lamborghini presented its angular design in the form of the famous Countache , and other automakers also presented their angular concepts or production cars, so in the end there was only one concept that was owned by the Bertone museum until 2011, which was auctioned by the well-known RM Auctions in 2011 and sold to a private collector.
