Ford has updated the Explorer SUV

The Explorer name has been on the market for a quarter of a century . Ford once sold this off-road model in Europe, but it offers the latest generation exclusively to domestic customers. The current facelift is also intended for them, but it has completely changed the identity of the large SUV.

Above all, the front part is probably unknown to the owner of the current version. Not only is the chrome and higher radiator grille new, but also the bumper and especially the main headlights , which in the new top-of-the-line Platinum trim are made entirely of LEDs. The shape of the roof rails has been slightly modified, which are accompanied by new drainage channels for (mostly) rainwater. In the rear, the fifth door was redesigned , which received a new spoiler, reducing aerodynamic resistance. The headlights, although they look the same at first glance, have new optics and graphics.

The interior has undergone only a design evolution compared to the exterior, which includes a redesigned steering wheel , a completely new instrument panel and a modified center console. There appear more buttons to control the multimedia system, which some frustrated customers requested. The materials used are of better quality, parking cameras in the front and back , a semi-automatic parking assistant or better audio from Sony have been added as additional equipment.

When we've had a bite of the equipment topic, it's worth mentioning that in addition to the existing XLT, Limited and Sport grades , the top-of-the-line Platinum version will also be available. In addition to LED headlights, it comes standard with 20-inch wheels, silver-painted bumper segments and a panoramic sunroof divided into two parts. The interior is upholstered in Nirvana perforated leather , the dashboard and steering wheel are decorated with wooden decors and there are also elements made of brushed aluminum. The list of equipment includes, for example, Sony audio with 500 W, a heated steering wheel or a digital instrument panel.
