Petrolhead celebrity – Henry Blight (Tobey) Halicky

Henry Blight (Tobey) Halicky was born in 1940 into a wealthy family. And since childhood he has been riding everything he could get his hands on. Once he found out that if he crashes well, he doesn't even scratch, so he decided to become a car stuntman.

He went through several lackluster films, until in 1973 he decided to make a film only about cars with his friends. He cast himself in the main role and Eleanor was to act as his second. Now we don't mean its remake version, but the original Ford Mustang MACH 1 . He completely dismantled and boiled this car so that it could withstand several days of filming. During these days (it takes a little over an hour in the film), the new car becomes a barely-moving torso. But by the way, it is still able to drive nowadays. After five days of filming, there were ten hours of footage, so Henry's crew invited friends from the film studio to help them edit the footage at work.

In the studio, their superiors also got access to the material, who were enchanted by this work. The studio immediately got in touch with Henry and agreed to release Gone in 60 seconds in cinemas. There were a few more post-production shots from the radio or from the police station, Henry then approved the whole thing and the film was released in cinemas in the USA in 1974. It immediately became very popular and the preparation of a free sequel under the name Junkman began .

This film was also about destroying dozens of cars and always in a stunt way, which Henry insisted on. This trend was continued in the film Gone in 60 seconds 2 , during the filming of which, however, Henry died at the age of only forty-eight. It happened when I crashed directly while doing one trick. However, under the direction of his daughter and wife, the film was nevertheless created and released in cinemas, although only 40 minutes were filmed before his death. These were supplemented, for example, with unused scenes from the first film. So the next time you say the magic words " Sixty Seconds ", try to remember this original Petrolhead movie and not the modern remake starring Chip Foo's Mustang and Nicolas Cage .
