Video with BMW 1600 GT

The BMW 1600 GT is a rare type from the 1960s. And his age has not taken anything away from his elegance and style. Although it is not actually an original BMW , it has the typical attributes of this brand – it is sporty and drives well. However, this car was originally manufactured by the Glass Company from Dingolfing. If the name of the company doesn't mean anything to you, you might remember the little Goggomobil . Although it was very successful, it did not save the car company from financial difficulties, so it was taken over by BMW in 1966. The Munich automaker decided to continue production of the 1600 GT sports model that the Glass automaker produced. And that despite the fact that the car looks almost Italian. For example, it has a large glass area or a well-designed black interior. Next to the simpler shapes of the BMWs of the time, the 1600 GT looked somewhat atypical. In Munich, they built a more reliable and powerful engine under the hood, which gave the car more dynamics. The maximum speed was 190 km/h. The rear axle was also changed, which greatly improved the driving characteristics. The appearance has been modified only slightly, you will of course notice the kidneys on the front mask, or other rear lights. In the end, only 255 cars were produced.
