Last year, the Brazilian branch of Volkswagen showed the modernized Saveiro pickup , which has long been at the top of its segment in its home country of Brazil. Until now, the range of bodies included a version with a classic or extended cabin . However, with the arrival of the modernized Fox hatchback, the German manufacturer also unveiled a third Saveira body variant – Cabine Dupla , which translates to double cabin.
With it, it was again possible to improve the practicality of the Saveira, which can now carry up to five passengers and 580 liters of cargo with a maximum weight of 667 kg can fit in the cargo area (it is 629 kg for the Cross and Highline versions). The external dimensions have not changed – the Saveiro Cabine Dupla Trendline has a length of 4493 mm (Cross version 4511 mm), a width of 1893 mm (Cross and Highline versions 1898 mm), a height of 1579 mm (Cross and Highline versions 1593 mm) and a wheelbase has a length of 2753 mm. In the cabin, the new body is expected to reign supreme in its segment in terms of passenger shoulder space, while the load space can accommodate an object up to 1,106 mm long, which is again the class maximum.
In addition to the new body variant, Volkswagen also modified the names and composition of individual equipment. The basis thus becomes the Saveiro Startline , which is only available with a simple cabin and in its equipment we can find, for example, ABS, EBD, 2 airbags, a height-adjustable driver's seat or preparation for a radio. The Saveiro Trendline is available with a single, extended and double cab, and its equipment includes power steering and electric windows. The double cabin also comes with the new Highline grade , reserved only for this body, in which we find air conditioning, radio with CD/MP3 player, Bluetooth, Aux-in and USB connectivity and six speakers, fog lights, parking assistant, multifunction steering wheel or on-board computer . The highest level of equipment is the Saveiro Cross in the extended or double cab version, which, in addition to visual accessories, 15-inch alloy wheels, different bumpers and circular fog lights, also offers a stabilization system, electronic differential lock, hill start assistant or electric mirrors as standard.
In the case of the Saveira Startline, Trendline and Highline, the drive is provided by a 16-cylinder gasoline engine , which is capable of burning both gasoline and ethanol and has a power of 101 and 104 horsepower, respectively, when burning ethanol. The Saveiro Cross is equipped with an all- new 110 hp petrol and 120 hp ethanol-burning MSI petrol engine that first appeared in the facelifted Fox hatchback . Both engines are combined with a five-speed manual.
The price was set at 47,490 reals (approx. 438,000 crowns) for the Saveiro Trendline Cabine Dupla, at 52,720 reals (approx. 486,000 crowns) for the Saveiro Highline Cabine Dupla and finally 59,990 reals (approx. 553,000 crowns) for the Saveiro Cross Cabine Dupla .
