HSV will build the new Maloo GTS

In 2006, HSV , the official tuner of the Holden car manufacturer, entered the Guinness Book of Records when it presented the fastest production car with a Pickup body in the world. Their Maloo R8 of the time, which you can see in the attached pictures, is based on the two-door Commodore type and achieved a test speed of 271.44 km/h. This surpassed the fastest Dodge Ram SRT-10 at that time, which reached a speed of 248.74 km/h two years earlier.

HSV has now decided to build a new Maloo , which should improve the record again. It will be the Maloo GTS model. The LSA V8 unit, which the GM concern has, will move under the hood. It usually drives, for example, a sedan in the GTS version, or a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 . The 6.2 liter unit has an output of 580 hp and 545 Nm. Thanks to it, the sedan reaches 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds and reaches a speed of 280 km/h. We can expect similar performance from the Maloo model.

In addition to the engine, the Pickup also borrows the rest of the GTS equipment from the sedan. It will thus receive extra cooling of the engine and transmission, an improved differential, magnetic shock absorbers, twenty-inch rims and AP Racing six-piston brakes. The only bad news is that only 150 pieces will be produced.
