Chinese automakers want to return to the US

After the fiasco in the middle of the first decade of the 21st century , Chinese automakers are once again preparing to conquer territory in the US and Europe. Currently, the closest to regular sales in the USA is the GAC carmaker, which wants to sell the Trumpchi GS5 SUV next year.

"We want to start exporting to the US as quickly as possible. I believe that customers will consider our Trumpchi models to be competitive," Wu Song , head of GAC (Guangzhou Automobile Group Co.) told Automotive News China at the premiere of the fourth installment of the Transformers movie, of which GAC is a partner.

The first model with which GAC will want to attract American customers will be the compact SUV Trumpchi GS5 , which, with a length of 4724 mm, a width of 1829 mm and a height of 1676 mm, is close to, or rather surpasses, the popular Toyota RAV4 . Inside, there is room for five passengers and 479 liters of luggage.

Under the hood of the Chinese version, we can find a two-liter four-cylinder with an output of 147 hp with a torque of 187 Nm or a turbocharged 18-liter engine with an output of 176 hp with a torque of 237 Nm. Both engines are available in their homeland with a five-speed manual or automatic, but only the 18-liter can be equipped with all-wheel drive .

How GAC wants to present its SUV has not yet revealed, but we should learn everything in the coming months . The Chinese headquarters have high hopes for the already mentioned partnership with the movie Transformes 4 : "Our sponsorship of the movie Transformers 4 will help make our car company more aware of customers and dealers, and in the long run will make a significant contribution to the good reputation of our brand," added Wu Song.
