Lada unveiled a plasticized version of the Kalina model

The fashion for producing pseudo-all-terrain vehicles with a plastic body and without four-wheel drive has also arrived in Russia. AvtoVAZ, the biggest automaker there , will soon start selling the Kalina Cross .

It is based on the station wagon body version in Norma equipment with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an output of 87 horsepower under the hood. The five-speed manual transmission still drives only the front wheels, but according to reports from the car manufacturer, the installation of all-wheel drive is also being considered ! And the station wagon with a ground clearance of 208 mm (23 mm more than in the series) certainly deserves that.

Further modifications are mainly focused on the design – Kalina is proud of the distinctive plastic protection of the fenders and bumpers , while the plastic in the front and rear bumpers is painted silver. The automaker also changed the tires and wheels , which are now fifteen inches. On the new roof rails and side protection bars we find a reference to the model name. Other design changes can be found in the interior, which finally no longer only has black plastics, but also some colorful accessories such as seat padding or decor on the steering wheel and ventilation vents. Sound insulation is also better.

Technical changes include even more durable bearings, modified shock absorbers , front suspension, steering rod and springs. Kalina Cross should go to stores in September.
