Renault presented the new fastest front wheel at the Ring

The title of the fastest pre-lap on the Nordschleife was borrowed from Renault this year by Seat with its Leon Cupra. And he borrowed them really aptly, because Renault reacted to the loss as best as it could – it built the Mégane RS 275 Trophy , which will probably take the record back.

As a reminder, the provisional record is 7:58.44 seconds . However, the Mégane RS 275 Trophy also managed the legendary Ring "under 8 minutes" , and thanks to the unveiling of the record-breaking model , we can say with certainty that it will really be well under the claimed 8 minutes.

By what means did Renault achieve this? Well, it probably won't be with the stylish yellow paint with Trophy decals that we see in the photos, but thanks to the tuned titanium Akrapovič exhaust , which is lighter and also louder than the standard one, or by using the sportier Cup chassis, it will. However, the biggest boost is definitely the 10 hp stronger two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine . It thus newly generates 275 hp and 360 Nm, which are again sent to the front wheels with the help of a limited-slip differential.

At the request of customers, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 sticky tires, specially developed for the new Mégane, appear in the list of additional equipment. The list of extras also includes beautiful nineteen-inch Speedline Turini wheels and adjustable Öhlins Road & Track shock absorbers with steel springs, a solution derived from the racing Mégane N4.

In the interior, we find Recaro sports seats in a combination of leather and Alcantara with red stitching, a different head of the gear lever or Alcantara on the rim of the steering wheel and handbrake lever. Even though we already know almost everything about the record-breaking Mégane, Renault is saving the most important thing – namely the time at the Ring – until June 16 . According to speculation, the French will pull out with a time of around 7 minutes and 45 seconds. And be careful – you will also be able to buy it in a limited number for the garage!
