SKODA AUTO from Mladoboleslav consistently continues its model offensive. Just a few months after the start of sales of the Citigo minicar, the automaker presents the new compact SKODA Rapid . The youngest model series is of key importance for the car company's growth strategy. From autumn 2012, it will gradually be introduced to European markets.
Perfect proportions, clearly and cleanly modeled surfaces and sharp lines form an attractive whole. The front of the car shows a new interpretation of the typical emblems of the SKODA car company. The brand's new logo is confidently placed on the harmoniously rounded front edge of the hood. The radiator grille features a chrome frame and is made up of vertically positioned slats. The set of front and fog lights of the SKODA Rapid model evokes the shape of a four-leaf clover.
Pure emotions are also conveyed by the side lines of the body. The main word here is a long wheelbase, a coupe-like silhouette and a precise, sharp "Tornado" line that clearly separates light and shadow. At the rear, the large fifth door is not only a functional but also a design element. The precisely arranged rear group lamps with their – typical for Mladá Boleslav cars – shape of the letter C and the new brand logo ensure the unmistakability of the SKODA Rapid model.
The youngest SKODA AUTO model line convinces with its compact dimensions (length 4.48 meters, width 1.7 meters) with its offer of space. The cleverly designed compact car offers space for five passengers and their luggage. Other smart solutions, excellent value for money and extensive safety equipment are a matter of course for the Czech brand. The range of power units for the new compact model consists of five petrol engines and two diesel units.
SKODA Rapid will experience its exhibition premiere at the Paris Motor Show. SKODA AUTO considers the main target group for the Rapid model to be especially families looking for a spacious car at an affordable price with the usual quality of the Czech brand.
From the beginning of production, we will meet the following power units under the hood:
The basis will be the three-cylinder 1.2 HTP in variants of 55 kW (75 hp), 63 kW (85 hp) and 77 kW (105 hp).
Fortunately, the offer is not built only on those three cylinders. There will also be a turbocharged four-cylinder TSI with a displacement of 1.4 liters and an output of 90 kW (122 hp).
And the last engine we'll see is the 1.6 TDI four-cylinder diesel in 66 kW (90 hp) and 77 kW (105 hp) variants.
If you are asking about the price, the basic version of the Rapid should start at 299,000 crowns. However, we still have to wait a while for information about the standard equipment.
