Alfa Romeo is preparing to expand the range of the 4C model

In half a year on the market, the Alfa Romeo 4C already has over 1,700 orders from Europe, Asia and the Middle East. In order for interest not to wane, Alfa is preparing an annual modernization of the small coupe in addition to the open version .

The brand's marketing director, Alberto Cavaggioni , not only revealed this fact to the British magazine Top Gear . In addition to the planned modernizations, Cavaggioni also touched on the topic of new versions of the Italian coupe with an engine in the middle, and we even know that the 4C will be with us for at least another 4 years .

"I can't tell you much at the moment, but we are working hard to maintain the DNA of our brand. Many of our customers ask us about a similar car, and we deal with these questions," he said, for example, to a question aimed at a sharper version of the RS .

We know a little more about the open version of the Spider , which seems to be green: "You saw the first update, which was also the most important, in Geneva. The version of the Spider that we had to be sure we were in such a good position to afford a car like that." Alfa's current effort, thanks to the huge interest in the concept , is to get the Spider into production as soon as possible, which should happen as soon as next year. Along with the open version comes the option to order more classically conceived lights from this version as well for the coupe , which until now boasts carbon covers.

The perception of the 4C within the brand in relation to the competition, especially the Porsche Cayman , which is sold at a similar price to the Alfa, is interesting: "There is no direct competitor for the 4C. We've spent a lot of time understanding which model on the market is our competitor and we've come to this: if you want a carbon chassis, you go to McLaren. At such a price and with such technologies, the 4C simply has no competition."

In addition to the compact coupe, however, the conversation also touched on the question of the brand's future . As you probably know, there is a new version of the open Spider , which was developed in cooperation with Mazda and will offer rear-wheel drive. We can also expect an SUV or a crossover , because when it came to such a car, Cavaggioni referred the British magazine to May 6, 2014, when the brand will come up with a big news .

At the same time, the return of older customers to the brand is key: "At Alfa, we are working on new models and I can say that things are developing very positively. We need to let people know that the brand is alive and make sure that customers who have already bought Alfa will buy it again. In addition to them, we also need to find young people who will become new customers of the brand. That is also why we are working on 4C cars," said Cavaggioni.

At the very end, a stronger and larger coupe with the likely designation 6C , which Alfa has already used in the past, came: “I love vintage cars, so we would love to do a car like that, but we don't have plans for it at the moment. However, our history is very important and we need to build on it if we have the opportunity," Cavaggioni added.
