Opel presented an extreme version of the Astra OPC

The end of January brought great news to all fans of sharp hatchbacksOpel has decided to produce a lighter and stronger version of the Astra OPC called Extreme. The initial teaser is now followed by a complete series of photos and information.

And we can start right away with the weight that has been proclaimed so many times. This is because compared to the classic Astra OPC , it is 100 kg lower (it should therefore weigh a total of 1273 kg). The German carmaker achieved this primarily through the extensive use of carbon , which can be found on the roof, hood, massive rear spoiler, diffuser and wheels, which are 20 kg lighter than the regular model. The fenders are made of aluminum and each piece weighs only 800 g (for comparison, the fender of the classic Astra OPC weighs 2.2 kg).

Under the hood, we find an all-aluminum turbocharged four-cylinder with a volume of two liters with an output of over 300 horses , which are sent to the front axle using a six-speed manual transmission with the help of a limited-slip differential. The dynamics of the car have not been published, but thanks to the lower weight, better data than the classic OPC can be expected.

Safe stopping is ensured by six-piston Brembo brakes with a diameter of 370 mm, hidden behind nineteen-inch wheels with 245/35 R19 Hankook tires. The interior received a roll cage instead of rear seats, Recaro front shells with Schroth belts, and a carbon-reinforced steering wheel.

After the premiere, which will take place next week in Geneva , Opel also promises limited production . However, the press release does not say how many pieces there will be.
