Hyundai Intrado Concept 2014 – Korea's vision of the future

With the ever-present threat of oil shortages and stricter emissions regulations, each automaker is struggling in its own way. South Korean Hyundai will bring the Intrado concept to the Geneva Motor Show in March, which shows the brand's preparation for the future. In addition to the evolution of the design language, Hyundai also focused on new construction methods, materials and powertrain.

The concept borrows the name Intrado from aviation , where the term is used for the lower part of the wing that provides lift. It is the first Hyundai that was completely created under the supervision of Peter Schreyer as one of the presidents and chief designer of the Hyundai-Kia concern. The car's appearance is an evolution of the brand's current design language and focuses primarily on aerodynamic efficiency , with super-light steel body panels helping to reduce the car's weight.

The concept is designed as a vision of a light and capable car with the possibility of easy and quick repair. A number of advanced materials and carbon fibers were used for the construction, which can be seen throughout the interior when the doors are opened. It was also built to offer a high degree of usability and adaptability.

A system with hydrogen fuel cells and a Li-ion 36kWh battery takes care of the drive. Refueling should be a matter of minutes, a range of up to 600 kilometers and only water molecules are emitted. Hydrogen propulsion is not an entirely new idea, and its expansion is mainly hindered by the expensive and difficult acquisition of fuel , as well as the delicacy of refueling. We therefore do not expect serial deployment, but it is certainly an interesting idea .
