The original Polo R was created in only 2,500 pieces for the purpose of homologating the very successful rally special . The novelty with the same name will no longer be limited and will offer the best performance among sharp hatchbacks in the B segment.
From the turbocharged two-liter EA888 , the new Polo R will mine around 250 hp , which means an increase of 30 hp compared to the original model. The fundamental change will be the use of 4Motion all-wheel drive , which, although it will increase the weight, will also help the Polo accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about 6 seconds and develop a maximum speed of around 250 km/h. The gearbox will continue to be a six-speed dual-clutch with the designation DSG.
The replacement of the rear torsion beam with a multi-element axle goes hand in hand with the use of all-wheel drive. The premiere is scheduled for March's Geneva Motor Show, where the Polo R will be shown not only with the modernized version of the standard Polo , but also with the sister Audi S1.
