Overview of automotive news for 2014

A year has passed and we have been living in 2014 for a few days now. It will be important not only for athletes , because the Winter Olympics are taking place, or for politicians , because the composition of the new government is being decided, but also for car enthusiasts . The calendar of the Formula 1 World Championship, Moto GP or DTM will be in full swing again, and above all, several important car shows are waiting for us this year. So which cars to look forward to? You can at least partially learn this in our big overview!

Alfa Romeo

A year after the launch of the successful 4C coupe , Alfa will launch its open version this year. It will hit the market during the summer, and rather than a classic roadster for two, the 4C Spider will be a targa with a removable roof section. There will be a special place for it in the trunk.

Audi

The German car manufacturer is also preparing a whirlwind of new products this year. At the beginning of the year, the open variant of the A3 model will finally be launched on the market, followed by other derivatives of the popular compact – the gas version g-tron and the electric version e-tron . In Detroit, we will also see the concept form of the upcoming Q1 small SUV for the first time. For the time being, the S3 Cabrio and the sharpest A3 in the range with the classic designation RS3 have an unknown form. The Audi A1 will also get a sportier design, although it will only have the S designation . From Audi's point of view, the biggest news of the first half of the year should be the new generation of the A4 model . The second half of the year will belong to the new generations of TT and R8 coupes, the modernization of the A6 and A7 series , including their derivatives, and the new generation Q7 SUV . A surprise could be the first MPV in the history of the brand with the designation V4 .

BMW

This year will be literally revolutionary for Munich-based BMW. The first quarter will include an open version of the 4 Series , a new 2 Series coupe including the M235i sports model, the i8 plug-in hybrid supersport , the M4 coupe and M3 sedan, and a light upgrade of the X1 SUV . In Geneva, we will recognize the form of the four-door coupé 4 GranCoupé . During April, the new SUV X4 will be presented, which will complement the X1, X3, X5 and X6 , which will see a new generation in August. Even after the holidays, we will not rest from the X models, when the premiere of the modernized X3 and the sporty versions of the X5 and X6 M are about to be launched. But the biggest news will certainly be the MPV Active Tourer , which will not only be the first MPV in the history of the brand, but will also have front-wheel drive. In the shadow of this model will be the open version of the M4 .

Cadillac

Apparently, the American Cadillac will get the last chance in Europe. Not only the ATS model, introduced last year, but also the new CTS , which was shown for the first time at the IAA last year, but will not go on sale until this year, has helped. The second half of the year will mark the European debut for the mammoth SUV Escalade . In the US, they can look forward not only to the CTS VSport , but also to the coupe , derived from the ATS sedan. It is not yet clear whether we will see a new CTS-V this year or the upcoming "killer" M3 with the designation ATS-V .

Citroën

February 14 should be circled in the calendar of almost all fans of the double arrow. It is on this day that the serial version of the city SUV C4 Cactus will be presented. The highest-end model of the DS series, i.e. the DS5 hatchback, will receive new 1.8 and 2.0 BlueHDi engines right at the beginning of the year. The DS range, which was expanded by the DS 5LS sedan towards the end of the year, will continue to grow thanks to the DS Wild Rubis SUV and the limited edition DS3 Racing convertible . The end of the year will bring a new generation of the small C1 as well as a new version of the limousine and station wagon of the C5 series .

Dacia

Apart from the Dokker Stepway , i.e. a pseudo-terrain variant of a cheap MPV, Dacia will not show anything new next year. This, too, is part of the plan, which included an 18-month hiatus after the launch of the Logan MCV and the new Duster last year.

Ferrari

Although the LaFerrari is sold out, fans of the Maranello car company need not be sad! During the following year, we will finally see the appearance of the new generation of the California model . It will receive a turbocharged engine and design elements from the F12berlinetta model.

Fiat

The Italian manufacturer bet on the 500 series last year and this year will be no different. Already announced for last year, we will see the 500X urban SUV this year with certainty close to 100 percent. It will then be complemented by a modernized version of the classic 500 , and a limited edition is certain again.

Ford

The Blue Oval will introduce the EcoSport SUV to important markets after various extensions, which will be complemented by the new Transit , Transit Connect and Tourneum Connect and the same pair labeled Courier . However, the real news will be the new Mustang , whose form we already know some Friday. From Europe, more close models are being prepared by Ford, the modernization of the Focus , the launch of the new S-Max and finally the start of sales of the fifth generation of the Mondeo model . The fate of the new generation Ka model and also the low-cost sedan Escort , which will probably remain reserved for China only, is unclear. And it wouldn't be Ford if we didn't see a global model – in addition to the Mustang, we'll also see the production version of the Edge SUV , which will also be seen in Europe for the first time! The USA is then waiting for the new generation of the F-150 pickup truck .

Honda

It is difficult to estimate when the third generation Honda Jazz , sold in the USA and Japan under the name Fit, will reach the European market. According to most indications, this should happen already this year, which is only good for the Japanese automaker. The second "city" model will be the Vezel SUV , which will probably be sold in our country under the name CR-U (probably to fit better with the larger CR-V).

Hyundai

The car company producing the highest quality Czech SUV will bet primarily on the new generation of the i20 model , which is already slowly becoming obsolete. It will probably only be shown in Paris, and the gap will be filled in the first half of the year by the European version of the Genesis luxury sedan . It will appear in Europe for the very first time.

Chevrolet

The Korean-American automaker is withdrawing from the European market , and as a result, we will most likely not see any new models. At important auto shows, the carmaker will be attracting mainly the new generation of the Corvette model , which we will already see in Detroit in the Z06 version and which, together with the Camaro , will remain the only one in Europe.

Infiniti

The luxury branch of Nissan is preparing a compact hatchback Q30 , based on the concept of the same name. In addition to it, we will see a sporty version of the Q50 sedan with the distinctive name Eau Rouge .

Jaguar

The British cat is not trying much this year. Of the serial novelties, we will only see a coupe based on the F-Type roadster . Much more important, however, will be the Paris Motor Show, where the concept of a mid-range sedan will be shown, which is supposed to flood the BMW 3-series or the Mercedes C-class. If it fails, it will quite possibly mean the end of the whole Jaguar.

Jeep

The main star here is probably clear – the "robo-copied" generation of the medium-sized Cherokee model will begin to conquer world markets and may not be completely without a chance – in the USA, the Cherokee is doing better than expected. The new small SUV Jeepster , based on the Fiat 500X, will head one floor lower than the Cherokee.

Kia

The beginning of the year will belong to the modernized Optima and the new generation Soul . In Detroit, we will see a sports coupe concept that could finally become a reality. Other news of the first half of the year will include the modernization of the Sportage SUV . The second offers the "European" premiere of the new K900 sedan at the Moscow Motor Show. However, it is not yet certain whether we will see the limousine in the Czech Republic as well.

Lada

The Russian car company has prepared one big premiere for customers outside its homeland – the second generation of the small hatchback or Kombi Kalina . The Russians already know its form some Friday, but Europe will be a newcomer in this regard. The possible introduction of a modernized Priory cannot be neglected either. And since the Moscow Motor Show is taking place this year, it's definitely possible that we'll see something new right here. Most often, there is speculation about other body variants of the Granta model , the successor of the Priory, but some surprising concept cannot be ruled out.

Lamborghini

The star of the year is clear – the Huracán coupe will surely delight fans of the brand all year round. And since the car company celebrated its fiftieth birthday last year, it cannot be expected that there would be any other news besides the Huracan.

Lancia

The only novelty of the Italian car company is the modernized version of the Delta hatchback , characterized only by cosmetic changes to the design of the exterior and interior. A sharp hatchback Ypsilon HF could be a surprise.

Lexus

Toyota's luxury offshoot will arrive at the beginning of the year with a modernized version of the CT 200h hatchback . This will be complemented by the European premiere of the successful RC coupe design, which will also be shown in the sporty F version in Detroit. At the end of the year, we will enjoy the arrival of the small SUV LF-NX , which will receive the brand's first own turbocharged engine.

Maserati

Even the Italian trident has to go with the times, so we will see the second diesel Maserati . This will be the large limousine Quattroporte, which will thus come even closer to competitors from BMW or Audi. The fate of the planned Porsche 911 competitor is still unclear.

Mazda

This year, the Japanese automaker will bet on three important models. Perhaps the most important will be the fourth generation of the MX-5 roadster , which will be revealed during the second half of the year. In the same period, we will also see the new generation of the hatchback 2 , which is significantly inspired by the larger models 3 and 6. The Mazda CX-3 will follow in the footsteps of the current urban SUV fashion, which will have many elements from the larger CX-5 for a change.

Mercedes-Benz

The new generation of the C-Class is clearly the biggest novelty of the three-pointed star this year. In addition to the sedan, in the second half of the year we will also see a station wagon and sharp AMG versions . The luxury class V microbus will follow on from the successful design of the S class and the concept of its predecessor. After Vian, the more traditional designation is thus returning. And speaking of luxury models – the S class will come in several versions. In addition to the expected hybrid , plug-in hybrid and S 65 AMG , we will also see a coupe replacing the CL series and, at the end of the year, quite possibly the most luxurious Mercedes not only in the brand's current offer. With the 600 Maybach will want to replace the models of the now bankrupt automaker with a famous name. We will not forget the SUV class, where we will see a sharp version of the GLA 45 AMG , and the MPV class, where the B class will get a facelift for a change . The icing on the cake will be the Porsche 911 competitor with the designation GT AMG , which will follow the design of the SLS AMG.

Mini

The new generation of the stylish little guy was introduced at the end of last year. Now it's up to Mini to introduce the new product as it should be. Already in Detroit we will see the first derivative – the sporty version of the JCW . Even though the automaker itself refers to it as a pre-production version, it is clear to everyone that this will be produced! However, the biggest novelty will be the first ever Mini hatchback with five doors . You can look forward to it at the end of the year.

Mitsubishi

This year, the crisis-ridden car company will once again bet on SUVs. After a few months of waiting, the Outlander PHEV will appear on the market, and the off-road legend named Pajero should also get a replacement. As we already know, the novelty will be rather a large SUV and we can also look forward to a plug-in hybrid version.

Nissan

Do you still remember the name Almera ? So this year we should expect a follower of the now almost forgotten model! It is not yet clear when that will happen, but after a few years it will mark Nissan's return to the compact hatchback segment. So far, the Qashqai crossover has featured there instead of the Almera, which will arrive in its second generation at the end of the year. In the course of the summer, it will be supplemented by a larger "sibling" with the traditional designation X-Trail . For lovers of extreme driving, there is a modernized version of the GT-R , but above all the ultimate version of the GT-R Nismo , which is one of the fastest cars on the Nordschleife! Already in Detroit, we will see the conceptual form of another old-new model – the Maxima sedan . Unfortunately, it probably won't make it to Europe. The e-NV200 delivery will most likely see a more massive expansion.

Opel

Adam recorded a success that the new generation of Corsa will want to build on. Therefore, it will not only receive a design derived from this mini, but also its engines and some elements of on-board technology. And while we're talking about Adam – he'll get a freetime version of Rocks , as well as an open version . Among the larger models, the Meriva MPV will be modernized and the new 1.6 SIDI Turbo engine will be more widely available.

Peugeot

The French lion must hope for the success of the 308 series . The news calendar for this year will also be subject to this, when we will see not only the classic SW station wagon , but also the sporty 308 GTi and R variants and the new 1.6 and 2.0 BlueHDi engines. The end of the year will be in the spirit of the new generation of cologne 107 and the modernization of the 508 series . However, it will receive a two-liter BlueHDi diesel before it.

Porsche

Unlike such Opel, the German manufacturer is doing exceedingly well. The news calendar for this year contains several new products – primarily the compact Macan SUV in several versions. In the style of the Macan, the larger SUV Cayenne should then be modernized at the end of the year. The Panamera will finally appear in the top Turbo S version , the small Cayman coupe and the Boxster roadster will instead receive the sharpest GTS version , which will be 15 hp more powerful than the S models. The legendary 911 will turn out to be a traditional Targa right from the end of the year. After that, especially fans of sports and off-road derivatives will come to their senses – not only the 911 GT3 RS , but also the conceptual 911 Safari will be presented!

Qoros

Even the newly created Chinese brand is not resting on its laurels, when we will already see a new production model in Geneva, standing on the same platform as the sedan 3. According to the first teasers, it looks like the final version of the hatchback , but we won't get ahead of it yet.

Range Rover

In addition to the nine-speed ZF automatic , we will mainly see hybrid variants of the classic Range Rover and Range Rover Sport . It will also come in the SDV8 version . High luxury will be offered by the extended Range Rover , which will reach Europe in the first quarter of this year.

Renault

The third major French manufacturer will present a modernized version of the Mégane CC coupé-cabriolet in two weeks in Brussels. In the course of the year, the arrival of the new generation of the Traffic van is expected, which brings us to the second half of the year, which is very important for the brand. There, we will first see the new generation of Twinga , which is created in cooperation with Smart, and will get rear-wheel drive, and after it, the new generation of Laguna , which according to some speculations was not even supposed to be introduced.

Rolls-Royce

This year, the British car manufacturer is expecting a slight modernization of the Ghost limousine . Before that, however, the Ghost will appear in the V-Specification version with a more luxurious exterior and interior and a strengthened engine.

Seat

The Spanish carmaker will focus primarily on the Leon this year as well. In just two weeks, a station wagon with a 4×4 drive will be presented in Vienna, and later in the year, the ecological version of the Ecomotive and the TGI gas model will also be available. Sport-oriented clientele will certainly appreciate the Leon Cupra , which will be shown at the Paris Motor Show.

Smart

While last year the pioneering car company had practically nothing new, this year we will see two novelties. Pocket hatchback ForTwo will finally see a new generation, which is being developed in cooperation with Renault. The relatively established model will then be supplemented by a second attempt with the five-door model ForFour . Unfortunately, it is not at all clear whether he will do better now than years ago.

SsangYong

The Korean manufacturer will hopefully present the final version of the long -awaited small SUV in the course of the year. The as-yet-unnamed model will be complemented by a modernized version of the Koranda , which is already selling happily in the automaker's homeland.

Subaru
