Mini previewed the fast John Cooper Works concept ahead of time

The unmistakable Mini style and technology taken directly from the racing circuits – this is the combination that defines the character of the cars of the John Cooper Works division of the Mini brand. The new generation Mini John Cooper Works , which will be presented in January 2014 as a concept at the Detroit Motor Show, takes this successful concept to the next level.

John Cooper Works models are characterized by a combination of extremely powerful engines, carefully tuned chassis with an extraordinary go-kart-like cornering feel, aerodynamically optimized bodywork and specific design elements. The presented concept does not depart from these traditions in this respect. Based on the new generation of the Mini model with a longer wheelbase and increased width, a sports model was created that effectively uses these changes to further improve driving performance.

At first glance, the Mini John Cooper Works Concept features larger air intakes in the front bumper, as well as glossy black bezels for the radiator grille and LED headlights . Aerodynamics are improved by specifically shaped sills and a rear diffuser. The study is also characterized by a specially shaped roof spoiler and other modifications that optimize the direction of air around the C-pillars.

The gray, hand- polished Bright Highways Gray paint gives the Mini John Cooper Works Concept a very special look. On the contrary, clear identification is facilitated by the traditional contrasting painting of the roof, including the spoiler and the covers of the exterior mirrors and, of course, the pair of stripes on the engine hood – these elements are made in the bright Chili Red color . The whole is appropriately complemented by lightweight John Cooper Works wheels with sports brake calipers and a red John Cooper Works logo on the radiator grille.
