Renault will cooperate with Dongfeng in China

Today, French Renault and Chinese Dongfeng officially concluded a cooperation agreement on the Chinese market. The "joint-venture" project worth 1.28 billion dollars (approx. 25.7 billion crowns) was also officially consecrated by the Chinese government .

The newly established Dongfeng Renault Automotive Company (abbreviated as DRAC) will build a brand new factory in the city of Wuhan with a capacity of 150,000 cars per year. However, according to the automaker, doubling the available capacity will not be a problem.

The first joint project of Dongfeng and Renault will be an unspecified crossover in 2016, sold under the logo of the French automaker. After it, we will see other models, but this time under the DRAC logo.

In response to the emerging project, Renault announced that the current number of 92 dealers (the French import Koleos or Fluence into China) will be expanded to 120 . In China, we will also see the second half of the Renault-Nissan alliance , when the Japanese automaker also cooperates with Dongfeng.

The head of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, Carlos Ghosn , said: "As the 'parents' of DRAC, Renault and Dongfeng are working closely together to ensure the future success of the new entity." Our partnership is part of a long-term strategy. The task is not easy, but we are ready for it."
