2014 Volkswagen Touran – First information

The Volkswagen Touran is one of the best-selling cars in the family MPV segment. The manufacturer does not want to miss out on this popularity, and although the new generation of the car is not expected to appear until sometime next year, the first information is slowly beginning to emerge.

In its new generation, the Volkswagen Touran will offer a number of interesting improvements, thanks to which the weight of the car will be reduced and, accordingly, fuel consumption. The biggest innovation will be the use of the MQB platform , thanks to which up to 100 kilograms will be saved from the total weight of the vehicle. While maintaining the proportions of the current version, the new Touran will offer a sportier, but unified body design, and over time we will also see an extended wheelbase.

Family MPVs are not only about the size of the interior and luggage space, but also about the variability of the interior. Volkswagen will thus start a fight with the pioneers of seat play with the EasyFold system supplied as standard, which is familiar from the current generation of its larger sibling, the Sharan .

For the time being, we do not have more detailed information about the layout of the engine compartments. The only guide is therefore the promise of ecological and economical turbocharged four-cylinder engines. The first swallow is the announcement of the 1.4 TSI petrol engine, which should achieve half a liter less fuel consumption in the new Touran than it has so far.
