Volkswagen Scirocco – Render of the planned facelift

The third generation of Volkswagen 's Scirocco coupe is based on the fifth generation of the Golf hatchback , so technically it is already getting old. The car company is therefore preparing a new generation, which will, however, arrive in about four years. The first thing in line is therefore a facelift .

As we wrote last week, the fourth generation of the Scirocco won't arrive until 2017 at the earliest. That's still a long way off, so Volkswagen is working hard on extensive upgrades to keep the model competitive.

The planned facelift should look similar to the brand's current models, so we can expect significant changes, especially in the front part. Computer graphic artist Remco Meulendijk tried to show how such a car could look in the end. The inspiration of the seventh generation Golf in the GTI version is clear.

On the technical side, the car will get upgraded engines that meet the Euro 6 standard, more assistance systems and probably some other new features as well. The premiere of the facelifted Scirocco is to take place in 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show. Before that happens, take a look at the cool render in the gallery and let us know what you think.
