First information and illustrations for the new generation VW Scirocco

The Volkswagen concern is finishing work on the modernized Scirocco , the premiere of which should probably take place at the Vienna Motor Show, which takes place in January next year. If that doesn't happen, a debut in Geneva is a certainty. The facelift should mainly bring a changed design, more assistance systems and optimized engines in the Euro 6 emission standard. However, now the first information about the new generation Scirocco has surfaced .

Sports hatchbacks or roadsters are not doing well on the market, but Volkswagen is preparing the development of the new, already fourth, generation and is hoping for it. As I mentioned in the introduction, the facelift of the current generation will be released in a few months , while the completely new generation should arrive in 2017 at the earliest . However, there is a certain risk of delay, as the new Scirocco can also wait for the introduction of the eighth generation of the Golf , from which it would then be based.

Compared to its predecessor, the new Scirocco should be more of a full-fledged sports coupe than a shooting brake. Of course, there will also be changes under the hood – specifically, the 2.0 TSI will offer a new output of 230 hp and a torque of 370 Nm, the current 1.4 TSI 160 hp will be replaced by a 1.8 TSI with an output of 180 hp, and the basic 1.4 TSI engine will have 125 hp (an increase of 3 hp).

Innovations will also occur in diesel units. The two- liter TDI will boast an output of 150 hp or 184 hp. Don't worry, a 300bhp Scirocco R is also planned, which is a 35bhp increase over the current model. The information looks very interesting, but for now we have to settle for the upcoming facelift of the third generation.
