The three-door BMW 1 Series is here!

In recent days, BMW has been releasing one new product after another, and in addition to the new 3 series station wagon , which we presented at the weekend, we can look forward to a three-door version of the little number one . It will not only be sportier, bigger and faster than the previous generation, but will also offer a sharp version labeled M135i .

The size difference compared to the previous version is quite striking. The three-door number one grew in length by 85 millimeters, in width by 17 millimeters, and the wheelbase grew by 30 millimeters. For passengers in the back, this means 21 millimeters more room for knees, but also for luggage. The trunk has a volume of 360 liters, which is 30 liters more in favor of the new generation.

The three-door version takes over the engine palette from the five-door, but a new basic version has been added. Under the designation 114i, there is a turbocharged 16-liter gasoline engine that provides 75 kW of power and 180 Nm of torque. More powerful gasoline variants are represented by aggregates labeled 116i and 125i with 100 kW and 160 kW, respectively.

BMW will also offer a wide range of four-cylinder diesel engines for the three-door number one. The basis is the 116d version with 85 kilowatts and 260 Nm, the stronger 118d will offer 105 kW. The pinnacle of diesel engines is the 125d unit, which reaches 160 kW of power and 450 Nm of torque. Later, however, the arrival of the 120d variant is expected.

New for the small BMW is the option to choose between rear and all-wheel drive. However, xDrive four-wheel drive will only be available for the 120d and M135i versions.

Combined fuel consumption is important for the vast majority of customers. This is in the range of 5.5-6.6 l/100 km for gasoline engines, diesel versions should not exceed the limit of 5 liters.

But it doesn't end there. For sporty drivers, BMW has a trump card up its sleeve in the form of a sharp version of the M135i . It got a full-fat supercharged six-cylinder with a volume of 3 liters under the hood. The maximum power of 235 kW and the torque of 450 Nm make the number one a guided missile that accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds. Combined consumption should not exceed 8 l/100 km.
