Skoda Fabia RS will end without a successor

Next year, the third generation Skoda Fabia will hit the market. We will see a hatchback and probably a station wagon, on the other hand, we will certainly not see the sporty version of the RS , which is nice, but customers don't want it.

About the end of the fast Fabia , Dr. Frank Welsch , the person responsible for the development of Skoda cars, spoke to Auto Express : " It's true that people love the Fabia RS, but they don't buy it – compared to the classic Fabia, the RS version is too expensive." Welsch sees all kinds of special models : "Styling packages like the Monte Carlo and optional extras like alloy wheels, those are the things people are buying."

In addition to the "RS", Welsch also talked about the new generation Fabia , which will arrive next year and, contrary to the original assumptions , will not be built on the modified MQB platform : "The Fabia will use the latest generation of fuel-efficient VW engines, as well as the latest information systems, but the MQB platform will this generation will not discover. First, MQB will appear in cars the size of the Passat, and only then will it be used in cars the size of the Polo or Fabia."

In the end, there was also the now relatively obligatory question about comparing the Fabia with the Rapid : "We won't change the Fabia much in terms of size. It will be wider and lower and will receive a new attractive design, but will remain a compact car.”
