The current European car market more or less revolves around sales of small urban models. The Volkswagen concern is very successful with Up! and Citigo , PSA builds its success on the new generation of the C1 , 107 and Aygo trefoil. At the same time, however, space is being created for other manufacturers, such as Opel . The latter came to the planned small car with an interesting campaign, from which the unconventional name Adam emerged.
The Opel Adam is built on a shortened platform of the future Corsa model. With its length of 3.7 meters, it is 15 centimeters longer than the aforementioned Up! , however, according to the significant overhangs of the body, we can expect a similar amount of interior space.
The small Opel will come to market armed with a new generation of three- and four-cylinder engines. They will reach a volume in the range of 1.0-1.4 liters and will offer new technologies in the form of direct injection. Thanks to this, about 10% of fuel will be saved, the low production of pollutants will ensure compliance with the Euro 6 standard.
The philosophy of the Opel Adam will be aimed at the younger part of the clientele. Thanks to this, we can expect playful color combinations, stylish body decals or full connectivity with Apple products.
The introduction of the car is planned for the Paris Motor Show in September. We can expect it to go on sale in early 2013.
