IAA Frankfurt 2013 – Practical information

The Frankfurt Motor Show unofficially begins this afternoon with a Jaguar press conference on the occasion of the presentation of the first SUV in the history of the brand, and a subsequent eve of the Volkswagen concern . The exhibition center will not be officially opened until tomorrow morning , when journalists will go to the parade of the latest in the world of automobiles. Ordinary visitors can only visit the IAA from Thursday. In our special article, you will learn how and for how much.

Opening hours

The car showroom is open every day from Thursday 12.9. until Sunday 22.9. On Thursday 12.9. and on Friday 13.9. however, expect sales days when there will be fewer people at the fairgrounds, but at the same time you will pay a higher entrance fee. From Saturday 14.9. entry is then at the standard price. It is open every day from 9:00 in the morning until 19:00 in the evening .

Admission

On the sales days mentioned above, the entrance fee is 45 euros (approx. 1160 CZK)! On the weekend of 14.9. and 15.9., respectively 21.9. and 22.9. the entrance fee is 15 euros (approx. 386 CZK), on weekdays you pay 13 euros (approx. 335 CZK). If you present your student card at the cash desk, you will only pay 7.50 euros (approx. 193 CZK). Apprentices, interns and volunteers also get to the car show for the same amount. Again, however, you must present the relevant ID.

After the third hour in the afternoon , the entrance fee is available for 8 euros (approx. 206 CZK) or 4.50 euros (approx. 126 CZK) for pupils and other privileged categories. Children under the age of seven, people with disabilities and people in wheelchairs have free entry.

Transport

Due to the proximity of Frankfurt (approximately 5 hours by car from Prague), we can classify this car showroom as one of the most accessible. Parking on site is also not the most difficult, but during the car show, you need to expect a lot of traffic. You will find two places to park directly on the iaa.de website. The first is the Rebstock garage , where you pay 12 euros (approx. 309 CZK) for one day, the second place is the outdoor parking area, where the parking fee for the day is 10 euros (approx. 258 CZK).

If you don't want to use your own car, you can choose a plane (for example, ČSA ) or a bus (for example, Student Agency , where a return ticket for one person is around 2400 CZK). Public transport is quite dense in Frankfurt, so it pays to choose the Hauptbahnhof station (main station) as a starting point, which is easily accessible from the airport. Tram number 16 or 17, lines S3, S4, S5 or S6 of the S-Bahn overground line and subway line U4 go directly to the exhibition center (Messe stop).

Accommodations

There are a lot of hotels in the city, but during the car show, the rooms are usually occupied. A list of hotels and prices can be found, for example, on the websites hotels.com or booking.com .

What to look forward to

As every year, Frankfurt will be packed this year as well. The biggest premieres include the new generation of the Peugeot 308 , the Mercedes-Benz GLA crossover, the electric BMW i3 and its plug-in hybrid sibling the i8 , the Porsche 918 Spyder , the concept of Jaguar's first SUV or the reincarnation of the famous Audi Sport Quattro . Czech customers will be interested in the Skoda Yeti facelift , the new Rapid Spaceback , the modernized Dacia Duster , the new generation Citroën Grand C4 Picasso or the practical Honda Civic Tourer .
