Peugeot will show a sharp version of the hatchback 308 in Frankfurt

Those who like sports cars will have a ready harvest at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show . In addition to purebred sports cars such as the BMW i8 , Porsche 918 Spyder or Ferrari 458 Speciale , automakers will also reveal many sports derivatives of regular models.

And the Peugeot 308 R falls into exactly this category, which will have a dominant position at the car manufacturer's stand with a lion in its emblem. True, this is only a concept so far, but remember last year's RCZ R model , which turned out to be a production version less than a year later…

What makes the 308 R interesting? At first glance, of course, with the distinctive bodykit of the body, which, according to the press release, is made predominantly of carbon . The French even went so far as to say that apart from the roof and trunk lid, no body panel connects the classic 308 and 308 R!

The inspiration for the design of the model was the wonderful Onyx concept , which was presented last year in Paris. Following his example, the 308 R also has a two-tone body. While the front part of the car is red, the rear part is decorated with black color. Front headlights with LED diodes and a modified radiator grille should become a typical element.

A proper concept also includes proper wheels. The 308 R got beautiful nineteens with 235/35 tires, behind which hide four-piston brakes with a diameter of 380 mm at the front and 330 mm at the rear. The whole car sits 26 mm closer to the road .

Technology already known from the RCZ R coupe slumbers under the decent jacket. Under the hood, there is a turbocharged 1.6 THP four-cylinder with an output of 270 hp at 6000 rpm. with a maximum torque of 330 Nm, which is available between 1900 – 5500 rpm. A standard six-speed transmission that sends power to the front wheels is assisted by a Torsen differential .

Despite the fact that the liter output is close to 170 horsepower, Peugeot did not forget to provide data on consumption and emissions . The 308 R consumes an average of 6.3 liters per 100 km and emits 145 g of CO2 per 1 km. In the press release, I would have expected different data for the sports model, but so be it…

Although we are still talking about the concept, it is clear from the example of the RCZ R that Peugeot is serious about the offer of fast models. After these two cars, the 208 R is also to come ! And a little poll at the end – the Volkswagen Golf R will also be presented in Frankfurt, which the 308 R is indirectly aimed at. So our question is, which of the listed models do you like more ?
