Toyota Land Cruiser 2014 – Significant facelift of the icon

Japan's Toyota has unveiled a modernized version of its Land Cruiser model, which it describes as iconic in an accompanying press release. We have no reason to refute the automaker and we bring you more detailed information and the first photos.

We presented the modernized version of the Lexus GX , which is its last transformation before the end of production , a few days ago. Now it's the turn of the car from which it is technically based – the Toyota Land Cruiser .

Changes to the exterior design focused primarily on the front end, which was lengthened by 20 millimeters , but the approach angle remained unchanged. At first glance, the headlights stretched along the sides of the mask, which received LED diodes for daytime running, will catch your eye. The mask itself consists of massive vertical ribs, which, depending on the car's equipment, are finished in black, metallized or metallized and complemented by silver.

The taillights received new graphics with a horizontal design, and the license plate holder and its surroundings on the fifth door were redesigned. On the side of the car, 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels with a new design will attract attention. The smaller size of the discs will also be available in steel.

The interior also received significant intervention, where the automaker focused on increasing the luxury and comfort of passengers. The upholstery of the seats is new, as well as the modified shape of those in the second and third rows. The driver has a new seven-inch display of the multimedia system and a number of redesigned controls.

Nothing has changed on the Land Cruiser 's frame structure, but the chassis has been modified to offer more convincing on- and off-road handling . The mounted system of adaptive shock absorbers can be adjusted in Normal, Comfort and Sport modes. For an additional fee, electronically adjustable Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) shock absorbers are available, mainly adjusting the car's ground clearance. The presence of rear axle air suspension is a matter of course.

The five-door version of the car is powered by a gasoline V6 with a volume of 4.0 liters or a four-cylinder turbodiesel with a volume of 3.0 liters . The three-door Land Cruiser is only available with a turbodiesel. Both engines are paired with a five-speed automatic , while those interested in the diesel unit can opt for a six-speed manual .

The three-liter turbodiesel will offer a power of 190 horsepower and a torque of 420Nm , while the stated combined consumption of the three-door Land Cruiser is 7.9l/100km and emissions of 208 grams of CO 2 per kilometer . The five-door model consumes 8.1l/100km and emits 213 grams of CO 2 per kilometer .

The four-liter petrol has an output of 282 horsepower and a torque of 385Nm . Land Cruiser with this unit accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds and the maximum speed is 180 km/h . The indicated combined consumption is 10.8l/100km and emissions of 256 grams of CO 2 per kilometer .
