Jaguar is considering a front-wheel drive hatchback

The ever -tightening emission regulations and limits dictated by the European Union force a number of car companies to present models that would otherwise not have entered the portfolio at all. One such example is Jaguar 's considered front-wheel drive hatchback .

The Jaguar Land Rover concern (hereinafter referred to as JLR), owned by the Indian Tata , focuses mainly on large and luxurious cars, which are not exactly a symbol of fuel-efficient operation. Tightening emission regulations thus force JLR to consider new fuel-efficient models. One possibility is the production of a front-wheel drive hatchback under the Jaguar brand. Chief designer Ian Callum let it be known that designing a similar car would be a challenge for him.

However, the eventual arrival of such a model is still relatively far away, as Jaguar is currently working primarily on a new sedan that would compete with the BMW 3 Series , and a station wagon and small SUV derived from it. Their presentation should be complete in 2016, so we can expect a final decision on the small hatchback only in this period.
