Volkswagen introduced the new Golf R

Less than a month before the official opening of the biggest motor show of the autumn, the Frankfurt Motor Show , Volkswagen showed one of its trucks. This will be the new generation of sharp Golf R.

The range of sporty Golf derivatives will thus complement the previously introduced GTI and GTD models. Compared to them, however, it will primarily offer a faster ride. Under the hood will appear the 2.0 TFSI unit , known for example from the Audi S3, which has a power of 300 hp and a maximum torque of 380 Nm.

You can choose between a manual transmission and a DSG dual-clutch automatic . In terms of speed, the Golf R even surpasses the related Audi S3 – with the manual it reaches 100 km/h in 5.3 s (Audi 5.4 s), with the DSG automatic the Golf can even do it in 4.9 s (Audi 5.0 s ). The maximum speed is then a slightly mandatory 250 km/h. The power will be transmitted to all wheels using the Haldex clutch of the fifth generation , and the XDS electronic differential, which is also used in the weaker version of the GTI, will not be missing.

Visually, the Golf R is mainly distinguished by new bumpers and eighteen-inch wheels. There are also LEDs in the rear lights, four exhaust tips and a chassis lowered by 20 mm . The interior will offer sports seats, R logos and blue upholstery.
