Lexus GX – The successor will be a crossover

The offer of the Japanese Lexus includes a not very successful SUV called GX , which you can't even get in the official way in our country. The automaker is already starting to work on its successor, which will focus on a completely different car with the name TX .

The Lexus GX (photo in the gallery) has a frame structure that comes from its sister Toyota Land Cruiser . The current generation was introduced in 2009 and during its lifetime it managed to earn a "do not buy!" rating from the respected Consumer Reports .

According to the latest news, Lexus has decided to slightly rework the model next year and completely remove it from the offer at the end of 2016. The indirect successor is to become a seven-seater crossover with a self-supporting body, for which the automaker registered the name TX .

The future Lexus TX will face competition in the form of the Infiniti QX60 , possibly the Buick Enclave or the Audi Q7 . However, it is not yet certain which axle of the car will be driven in the basic version. There is speculation about the use of a front-wheel platform from the Lexus RX or Toyota Avalon , or a rear-wheel base from the new Lexus IS and GS .

The unsuccessful Lexus GX will therefore disappear from the brand's offer at the end of 2016, and the aforementioned indirect successor in the form of the TX crossover is to be introduced at a similar date. Do you think the brand will have more success with him?
