The current ASX will also go into production in Brazil

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has started production of the ASX crossover at its plant in Catalão, Brazil. It will be provided through the exclusive distributor and manufacturing plant there, MMC Automotores do Brasil Ltda (MMCB).

Brazil became the fourth largest car market last year with 3.6 million cars sold. The world's attention will be focused on Brazil in the future as well, with the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games two years later. Thanks to these major events, the automotive market there is expected to continue to grow .

Mitsubishi first started production in Brazil through MMCB in September 1998, and since then three SUV models (Pajero TR4, L200 Triton and Pajero Dakar) have been produced there. The ASX is a global strategic car and a key model for the automaker, which the company started producing in Japan, then in the US , Indonesia, China and currently in Brazil.

Since its introduction, more than 26,000 units of the compact SUV named ASX have been sold in Brazil as an imported model. It gained popularity among customers there mainly due to: exterior design that gives a feeling of quality matched with the robustness of an SUV type car, low fuel consumption, universal use in various situations, easy maneuvering thanks to a small turning radius in relation to its size. Mitsubishi will continue to improve the competitiveness of the ASX in the Brazilian market through local production.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation is looking to consolidate its operating base in Brazil, one of its most important markets, and meet the needs of customers there. The Japanese automaker also wants to aggressively develop its business activities in Brazil.
