At the beginning of this week, Subaru released a couple of images showing two parts of the Subaru BRZ with the STI logo. This could logically mean to most car fans that this is a leaked image of the upcoming most powerful version of the Subaru BRZ STI , but unfortunately, this is not the case.
The Subaru brand wanted to let the world know with the published images that a sportier version of the BRZ model is indeed on the way, but we definitely cannot count on the STI version. In addition to the photos, a relatively hidden press release has also appeared on the website announcing the imminent arrival of the sporty Subaru BRZ tS and the even sportier BRZ tS GT-package . Both models will make their debut at the Japan Motor Show.
We don't have much information available about the new Subaru BRZ tS yet, but what we do know for sure is that the BRZ tS will get a sports package that includes a new front spoiler, wider side skirts or better Brembo brakes. The tS GT version will also have Recaro sports seats, black wheels and/or a carbon fiber rear wing.
Under the hood of the BRZ tS and BRZ tS GT , you can expect the familiar 2.0 -liter four-cylinder engine that develops 200 horsepower and 205 Nm of torque. The Subaru BRZ tS will go into production in October this year, but production will be limited to 750 units .
