Caterham will eventually get a three-cylinder

The British car manufacturer Caterham has confirmed that the base model Seven will get a three-cylinder engine under the hood. It will not be from Ford, as was often speculated, but surprisingly from Suzuki .

The engine will have a volume of 660 cc and, according to the press release, will lighten the already light car. Seven will be so light that it will even be the lightest "seven" in history ! The car manufacturer has not yet announced the dynamic parameters, but promises that the unit will receive many modifications, thanks to which the engine will provide sufficient power and low consumption.

The unit will be mated to a five-speed manual . The modification will also see the chassis, which will return to the spirit of the original Seven models.

The company's CEO, Graham Macdonald , said: "Suzuki is a leader in the production of compact cars with highly efficient engines. And we share this passion too. Above all, we needed a light power unit, which, however, combines the characteristics typical of all Seven models. Fortunately, after a long search, we found an engine that works great.”
