Opel ends the Australian market

In August 2012 , Opel entered the Australian market . Of course, this step was preceded by the car company's expectations. After a year, it turned out that this decision was probably not the happiest .

From last August to the end of 2012, only 541 cars of the Corsa, Astra and Insignia model series were sold. During the whole year (August 2012 – August 2013), the models of the German car manufacturer found only 989 new owners.

In light of the sales failure, the automaker would have to invest significant funds in maintaining the brand in Australia, as well as deploy significant discounts. And that would not be financially profitable. Therefore, the company decided to close the Australian branch.

In a press release, Opel says it will discuss selling its cars in Australia with sister company Holden , which is at home here. The carmaker also promised to fulfill the remaining obligations to clients and also ensure the availability of parts, service, etc… I will mention that in Australia, 20 dealers sold the German brand vehicles.
