NEVS is preparing to resume production of the Saab 9-3

NEVS (short for National Electric Vehicles Sweden), the owner of bankrupt Saab , has released its medium-term plans. And they are certainly self-confident goals. NEVS is planning to resume production of Saab in Trollhättan , Sweden this fall.

This was originally supposed to happen already this summer, but due to problems on the part of Japanese and Chinese investors, the restart of production was postponed until a later date. The only model that should leave the factory for now will be the 9-3 sedan .

Contrary to the original plans, the 9-3 will be equipped with a classic gasoline engine . If the model succeeds and makes money, then it will also be equipped with an electric motor. However, not much else is known about the "new" 9-3. A source close to the automaker revealed to the Swedish press that NEVS's 9-3 will be entirely devoid of GM parts . It would mean a brand new model coming out of the factory. The engines, which also came from GM, will be replaced by units from some other automaker. The most talked about four cylinders from BMW.

If everything goes according to plan, interested parties and enthusiasts could receive the first pieces before the end of the year . Sales will take place in a large part of Europe and selected Asian markets. There is also speculation about a sale in the US.
