Citroën will present a new concept in Frankfurt

Citroën is preparing for an interesting rotation within its model range. While the vehicles of the DS series will continue to be aimed primarily at a more luxury-minded clientele, the models starting with the letter C will offer a lot of music for as little money as possible.

The reason for this is simple. Citroën, and by extension the entire PSA concern , have been hit harder by falling car sales in Europe than anyone else. This led the management of the concern to reevaluate the roles of individual brands and, in fact, entire model lines. From the point of view of the Volkswagen concern , it should look like this in the future – Citroën's C models will primarily compete with Skoda, Peugeot will direct its models against Volkswagen, and Citroën's DS premium series will compete with Audi.

The first swallow in the newly emerging C series will be a small crossover , the prototype of which we will see in a few weeks in Frankfurt in the form of the E 3 Essential concept . It will use elements that the French automaker first showed on the C-Cactus concept in 2007 and three years later on the Lacoste concept. When creating the E 3 Essential, the engineers stuck to three words – purity, simplicity and smartness. These words should also describe the new model.

In the serial form (probably the name C4 Cactus ), which could arrive in less than a year, mainly undemanding engines from the PSA concern will be used under the hood. For example, let's name the 1.2 VTi petrol engine or the 1.4 HDi diesel. At the same time, the price should not exceed 13,000 pounds (about 393,000 CZK), which in Britain is comparable to the basic Skoda Rapid and even more favorable than the C4 hatchback.
