The new Mazda3 MPS will offer less power

Mazda has been keeping us excited for a long time with the unveiling of the new generation Model 3, but we finally got it. Specifically, at the end of June, the complete presentation of the new Mazda3 in hatchback bodywork took place, and a few days later the sedan was also unveiled . Now there is more talk about the powerful version of the Mazda3 MPS , which cannot be missing from the portfolio of the Japanese brand.

An unnamed source revealed to the British newspaper AutoExpress that the Mazda3 MPS will definitely return, but not in the form we know it. What did he mean by that? Above all, he pointed to the selected drive unit. The current Mazda3 MPS has a 2.3 -liter turbocharged four-cylinder with an output of 260 horsepower and a torque of 380 Nm. However, the management of the Japanese car company is apparently going to pull the reins on the new generation, as it will probably have a 2.0 -liter turbocharged four-cylinder, but with a power of only 200 horsepower. It has not been officially confirmed yet, so we can only hope that the mentioned figure is not true.

According to speculation, a high-performance diesel engine is apparently in the works, which would also anchor the sharp MPS, but only time will tell. The Mazda3 MPS, or Mazdaspeed3 if you will, is due to be unveiled in December of this year.
