Mercedes has expanded the engine range of its smallest model series

The engine range of the smallest Mercedes – the A, B and CLA classes – has been very wide since the start of sales. However, Mercedes does not share the same opinion and serves us as proof several new power units under the hoods of all three models.

Classes A and B will receive a new basic diesel 1.5 , which will bear the designation 160 CDI . In both models, it will have a power of 90 hp and a maximum torque of 220 Nm. The engine is only available with a six-speed manual, and this combination allows both models to reach a top speed of 180 km/h and to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 13.8 seconds for the "A" and 14 seconds for the "B". Paper consumption is very low – the A 160 CDI shows a consumption of only 3.8 l/100 km, the B 160 CDI is 0.3 l/100 km "more ravenous".

A class B for the second time and again with a new diesel. This time it is the 180 CDI version , which has a 1.5 diesel under the hood (instead of the previously used 1.8 unit) with a total output of 109 hp. The engine in combination with a six-speed manual allows the B 180 CDI to reach a maximum speed of 190 km/h, with acceleration taking place in 11.6 seconds. Combined consumption, thanks to the use of the new engine, has dropped from 4.4 l/100 km to 4.1 l/100 km. But those looking for an even more economical solution can choose the same model only with the BlueEFFICIENCY package . Thanks to it, consumption drops to 3.8 l/100 km.

Now we have something for all-wheel-drive lovers, especially those from Mercedes. New to the B-Class MPV range is the 220 4Matic version , which combines a 2.0 petrol turbocharged four-cylinder with the already mentioned all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This combination allows the model to accelerate to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and go up to a maximum of 225 km/h. At the same time, fuel consumption is not terrible – 6.5 l/100 km.

The latest news is headed under the hood of the small "sedan" CLA. All-wheel drive will also appear here, in combination with a turbocharged two-liter gasoline engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The entire unit is called the CLA 250 4Matic and has a total output of 211 horsepower. The model reaches 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, the maximum speed is 240 km/h, but the paper consumption is only 6.4 l/100 km. That's my stuff… Along with the CLA 250 4Matic, two other new versions of the CLA model will go on sale – the 45 AMG and the 45 AMG Edition 1 .
