It may or may not be a luxury crossover, it depends on BMW

Speculations have been circulating for a long time about whether the luxury British brand Rolls-Royce is considering the development and production of a smaller SUV. Even recently, you could have read on our website that the automaker is definitely planning a Wraith Cabrio , but is hesitating on the development of a Gran Turismo or an SUV. According to the latest indications, it seems that everything will depend on the owner of the aristocratic brand – BMW .

Rolls-Royce engineers tried to choose a suitable platform for the SUV, but unfortunately they did not succeed because, for example, the platform of the Phantom model is unsuitable. Of course, they also thought that they could develop a new platform specifically for SUVs, but they decided that it would be very expensive . And so now there is nothing left but to place all hopes in the Munich brand.

BMW is probably preparing the X7 model, which would be a competitor in particular to the Mercedes GL and would essentially be an "extended X5" with a longer wheelbase and a third row of seats. However, the crossover from the British would only be four figures. So far, the BMW X7 has not been confirmed for production, but it is the most ideal way for the birth of a luxury SUV with a statuette on the bow. It is not even clear yet whether we would find a twin-turbocharged eight-cylinder or twelve- cylinder engine under the hood.

If everything goes according to plan, production of the Rolls-Royce crossover would begin in 2017 and the price would start at a lower figure compared to the Ghost model.
