New information about the Levante crossover

We have known for a long time from the Italian car manufacturer Maserati that it is about to enter the SUV segment for the very first time, specifically in the serial form of the Kubang concept . It will bear the name Levante , and just today more information about the new model was published.

At first, everyone thought that the Maserati Levante would just be a rebadged Jeep Grand Cherokee , but according to the latest facts, it looks like that won't happen. Rather, the new Levante will have a lot in common with the Quattroporte and the Ghibli . The production Levante will most likely get an aluminum body and a basic structure that borrows components from its sister sedans. We can also expect some electronics from Chrysler , but their range may be limited.

The engine palette will most likely be taken from the Quattroporte and Ghibli , specifically we mean – 3.0 liter six-cylinder with two turbochargers (422 hp, 550 Nm); A 3.8 -liter eight-cylinder with twin turbocharging (530 hp, 710 Nm) and a 3.0 -liter turbodiesel six-cylinder with a power of 275 hp and a torque of 600 Nm. All power units will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that will send power to all wheels.

The automaker originally planned to manufacture the Levante model at Detroit's Jefferson North Assembly Plant, but due to the high demand for the Jeep Grand Cherokee, it will have to find or build a location in Italy. It is not yet known when the Maserati Levante will be presented.
