Volkswagen introduced a more practical version of the Lavida model

As sedans, station wagons and similar bodies are popular in China , they are not very popular anymore. These cars are mostly used as taxis in crowded Chinese cities.

But Volkswagen did not present a sedan in Shanghai, as would be typical for China, but a station wagon derived from a sedan. The popular Lavida received a more practical body, which leads to the designation Gran Lavida . It is not without interest that the Gran Lavida is shorter than the sedan – 4454 mm vs. 4605 mm. Despite this fact, however, the wheelbase remained.

The design is the same as the standard sedan up to the B-pillar. But then the roof is extended and the rear part received newly designed group lights. Like the sedan, the station wagon is based on the PQ34 platform and will be powered by a pair of engines. The weaker petrol 1.6 offers 105 hp , the stronger 1.4 TSI has 131 hp .

The Gran Lavida will enter the Chinese market in June at yet-to-be-specified prices.
