Ford is bringing back the legendary Escort name

Ford Escort . A legendary name used by Ford from the late 1960s to the early 2000s. However, this car was then replaced by the more modern Focus, and enthusiasts can admire the Escort only in bazaars and museums. However, times are changing along with Ford's opinion and therefore we can now look at the concept of the new Escort.

Designed in China for China . That's the slogan accompanying the modern Escort at the Ford stand in Shanghai. The design of the concept refers to current Fords – starting with the large grille and ending with the rear lights. The compact sedan is to be placed next to the Focus , which it will most likely want to beat by price and a different design style. As the press release states, both Focus and Escort offer high quality and safety.

The Escort shares the chassis with the second generation Focus , which is offered in China under the name Focus Classic. Among the main competitors will be the new Honda Crider , Volkswagen Sagitar (in our case Jetta) or Citroën C4L .

For now, Ford is keeping the details of the technology to itself, however, many Chinese car pages are speculating about the use of 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 petrol engines . Production could start next year at the joint Chang'an-Ford plant.
