Concept study of the Mercedes GLA in the first pictures

Finally, the constellation of spy photos and videos of the upcoming small crossover Mercedes-Benz GLA is behind us , because three days before the very premiere at the Shanghai Motor Show, the first official images of the new GLA model, which will be presented there as a concept, leaked to the world of the Internet.

The compact crossover, based on the A-class hatchback, has the following dimensions – length 4380 mm, width 1970 mm and height 1570 mm. It has grown in all directions when compared to the hatchback, but both have the same wheelbase – 2690 mm. The GLA concept offers a more aggressive design compared to the classic hatchback, elements of modern crossovers (for example skids), protective plastics under the bumpers and more prominent wheel arches. The highlight of the appearance are the 20-inch alloy wheels with 255/45R20 tires.

Most of the interior is taken over from the hatchback, but the upholstery, materials and unique instrument panel are new. Needless to say, most things will not make it into mass production. Under the hood of the GLA concept, we will discover a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder A250 with a power of 211 horsepower and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission 7G-DCT , which transmits power to all wheels. Of course, the serial GLA will have several power units available, including a 2.0- liter Turbo with an output of around 300 horsepower for the top version of the GLA45 AMG .

The presented concept study is said to be not far from the serial form, which will be presented at the Frankfurt exhibition center in September 2013. Sales of the new Mercedes GLA will begin in mid-2014 worldwide.
