The segment of family hatchbacks is still one of the most widespread in Europe , so it is not surprising that every manufacturer wants to take its piece of the pie. This is not the case with the Japanese Nissan , which announced the start of development of a completely new car.
The new hatchback will take its cue from the Nissan Invitation concept, which was presented a month ago at the Geneva Motor Show. It will ensure restless sleep for the Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus, Seat Leon, Opel Astra, or perhaps the powerful duo Cee'd – i30.
No new model can do without serious investments. In the case of Nissan , this is the sum of 201 million dollars for the production line in Sunderland , England, from which approximately 80,000 new hatchbacks should roll off annually.
Nissan plans to launch a production model in 2014.
