Although the current generation BMW X6 was introduced only in 2008, the automaker is already thinking about a new generation. It will arrive not long after its smaller brother with the designation X4 and will offer its interested parties a more aggressive design.
"We want to give our sportier models more individuality, to visually separate them from the more practical and mainstream models in our range," said an unnamed source from BMW magazine Autocar .
He further states that the new generation X6 will pay much more attention to details that will make the car more aggressive than before . However, the basic shapes will remain. A significant shift will be the overall enlargement of the model . This is mainly reflected in the length of the wheelbase, which will allow the rear passengers to drive much more comfortably, mainly in the longitudinal direction.
Technically, the new X6 will be based on the next generation X5 . Only petrol or diesel six-cylinder and eight-cylinder engines will appear under the hood. In 2015, the offer will be supplemented by a plug-in hybrid variant .
