The luxurious DS line will soon also offer an SUV

Currently, the Chinese market is of increasing importance, and the French car manufacturer Citroen is aware of this, as it will present the DS Wild Rubis concept at the Shanghai Motor Show next week. This will be the third world premiere of the Citroen brand on Chinese territory – last year the Numero 9 shooting brake was shown in Beijing and in 2010 the DS9 sports sedan was revealed in Shanghai.

The new study with the designation DS Wild Rubis has a length of 4700 mm, a width of 1950 mm, a height of 1590 mm and a wheelbase of 2900 mm. Summing up, the overall size of the new concept can be compared to the BMW X3 , but the wheelbase is similar to the larger BMW X5 . The revealed concept is built on a modified platform from the DS5 model and rides on 21-inch alloy wheels.

Citroen did not provide any information on the powertrain, but indicated that the DS Wild Rubis will offer full plug-in hybrid technology. According to the strategy of the PSA alliance, we believe that in the engine compartment there is a 1.6 -liter petrol four-cylinder that drives the front wheels and, conversely, the rear wheels are driven by an electric motor. The overall powertrain could offer a power of 240 horsepower , which is transmitted to all wheels by an unknown transmission.

China is likely to become the first country in which the series luxury SUV will be sold within the next year. On the contrary, on the European market, the mentioned concept in production form will probably bear the designation DSX7 HYbrid-4 . But guesswork over, full details will be revealed after the debut which takes place on April 21, 2013 at the Shanghai Exhibition Center.
