Renault presents the new Twin'Z concept

Renault Twingo has been on the market for less than two years after the last facelift , and the French automaker is already looking for a successor. His prototype is trying to be hinted at in the Twin'Z concept .

Its design is the responsibility of a team around Laurens van den Acker , who collaborated with the British designer Ross Lovegrove . The result should be a car whose curves are inspired by the shapes of the legendary Renault 5 and the first generation Renault Twingo . This inspiration can be seen, for example, on the front and rear lights. Interesting elements are also doors that open against each other, green wheels or a roof made of LEDs.

Dimensionally, the Twin'Z is slightly larger than the current Twingo . It has a length of 3627 mm, a width of 1705 mm and a height of 1506 mm. The wheelbase is 2495 mm long (for comparison, the current Twingo has a wheelbase of 2365 mm).

The drive is provided by a rear-mounted electric motor with a capacity of 68 horsepower, the power of which is transmitted to the rear wheels using a single-speed gearbox. Four lithium-ion batteries, which are located under the floor of the car, take care of the energy supply to the engine. And despite being powered by a heavier electric motor, the new product weighs only 980 kg !

So it looks like we have the first really fun electric car in front of us. And if the concept of rear-wheel drive could be preserved for the new Twingo, which will arrive later this year…
